Postdoctoral Associate

Development of next-generation antivenoms through innovative immunisation strategies

Funded by Wellcome Trust

A four-year fully funded post-doctoral position is available for excellent Early Career Researchers. This project involves the discovery and characterisation of recombinant antibodies for mitigating snakebite-inflicted mortality and morbidity. This is a collaborative project between the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), University of Bristol, International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), Kenya Snakebite Research and Intervention Center (K-SRIC), and the Evolutionary Venomics lab (IISc).

 

Expected start date: June 1st, 2021

 

Salary: 1st Year: ₹47,000 + 24% HRA
2nd Year: ₹49,000 + 24% HRA
3rd Year and 4th Year: ₹54,000 + 24% HRA

 

Qualification:  The candidate should have a PhD, preferably in evolutionary biology, computational biology, or molecular biology.

Duration: 4 years

 

Desired skills: Academic training and competency in analysing next-generation RNA sequencing data, preferably with a strong publication record in the field, is highly desirable. In addition, experience in any of the following fields would be advantageous: genomics, molecular biology (extensive experience in running ELISA, Western Blotting, immunochromatography), proteomics (mass spectrometry), and/or animal experimentation.

3rd Year: ₹54,000 + 24% HRA

Programme Manager

Development of next-generation antivenoms through innovative immunisation strategies

Funded by Wellcome Trust

The successful candidate will assist in managing projects, budgeting for grants, and coordinating with funding agencies, state forest departments (sampling permits), clinicians and project collaborators. A basic understanding of science is desirable. The candidate is also expected to assist the lab in undertaking outreach and educational activities. This job may require frequent travel.

 

Expected start date: June 1st, 2021

 

Salary: A consolidated salary of upto ₹50,000 per month, if all desirable qualifications are met.
 

Qualification: The candidate should have an MBA or a Master’s degree in STEM disciplines, desirably with relevant experience in independently managing projects. A good working knowledge of English is essential. Ability to speak in regional languages can be advantageous. Must have good computer skills (e.g., web or application development), or should be at least familiar with Excel, Word, Google Docs, etc.

Duration: 4 years

Lab Manager

The successful candidate is expected to assist in day-to-day lab management, from ordering consumables to aiding in various administrative tasks.

 

Expected start date: June 1st, 2021

 

Salary: A consolidated salary of upto ₹25,000 per month.
 

Qualification: The candidate should atleast have a bachelor’s degree. A good working knowledge of English is essential. Ability to speak in regional languages can be advantageous. Must have basic computer skills or should be at least familiar with Excel, Word, Google Docs, etc.
