Syllabus: The history of life on earth; biological macromolecules; bacteria and protists; fungi and other primitive plants; the plant and animal kingdom; species interactions; coevolution; micro and macroevolution; photosynthesis, respiration and decomposition; climate, weather, biogeochemistry and climate change; senescence of cells, organisms and communities; brain, cognition and learning; evolutionary medicine; field research: sample collection techniques, herping, birdwatching, diversity assessment.
